Planet 5 is Erald’s preset collection for TAL J-8, TAL Software’s software recreation of the classic Roland Jupiter-8 synthesizer. Its 50 sounds cover arpeggios, basses, leads, keys, effects and other synth roles. For producers working with techno, house or electro, the attraction is having a collection of ready-to-edit patches built around a single analogue-style instrument, rather than hunting across unrelated synths.
November 2026 update: Erald’s original product listing is still online. This article links directly to the creator and clarifies what the bank contains; it no longer uses an older affiliate checkout button or embeds advertising scripts.
What’s inside the Planet 5 preset pack?
According to Erald’s official listing, Planet 5 contains 50 presets with the following distribution:
- 12 arpeggios and 6 bass presets
- 2 chords, 2 keys and 3 leads
- 4 drum sounds and 6 effects
- 2 pads, 3 plucks and 1 string sound
- 9 synth patches
The publisher lists the download size as 151 MB. These categories describe the sound bank, not extra plugin instruments or independently guaranteed audio stems.

Why TAL J-8 works for these sounds
TAL J-8 models the behaviour and character of the Jupiter-8 hardware synthesizer. Its oscillators, filter, envelopes, modulation and voice behaviour give producers room to shape a preset further. Planet 5 is a third-party sound library for this instrument: the TAL J-8 plugin must be obtained separately.
Arpeggios and sequenced synth patches are natural candidates for rhythmic electronic arrangements, while the pads and chord sounds can help build contrast around more percussive material. The included FX category is worth exploring for transitions and sound-design accents; it is not a claim that the package includes six separate effect plugins.
Try Planet 5 in a techno arrangement
Start by placing a simple arpeggio under a dry kick and listening for where its timing clashes with percussion. Change the envelope length before stacking effects. For a melodic passage, duplicate a MIDI phrase and compare the same notes using a bass, lead and pad patch. This makes it easier to select the right role for each layer without filling the mix with unnecessary sounds.
For a less familiar result, adjust the modulation and filter settings after loading the preset and save a separate variation. When you automate parameters inside your DAW, make sure the patch change and host automation behave as expected after reopening the project.
How to preview and download Planet 5
Erald has a sound demonstration on the official Planet 5 product page. Listen to the creator’s demo before purchasing and consult the current terms there, because the price and any promotions can change. The store handles the download; Underground Talent does not distribute a separate copy of this sound bank.
For TAL J-8 installation or preset handling, start with the TAL Software FAQ and check that your plugin version is appropriate for the downloaded bank. Existing projects may need care when changing plugin versions.
