MISSING A DISTRIBUTOR?

A Beatport provider listing is not automatic acceptance of a release or label. Access terms, store coverage, fees and rights may change; consult the provider's latest official terms before signing.
How to choose a music distributor for techno
Finding a distributor is a different job from finding a record label. A distributor delivers recordings and their metadata to streaming platforms, download stores and, where offered, physical retail channels. A label decides what to release, manages its brand and artist relationships, and may work with a separate distributor to reach shops. Some companies provide both distribution and additional label services; their terms can be very different.
Underground Talent’s independent directory brings together electronic-music specialists and broader distribution services for self-releasing artists. It is not a top-twenty ranking and does not imply that one provider is better than another. Entries are organised alphabetically, with each profile linking to the current official service information.
Distribution options explained
Self-service for independent artists
Self-service companies generally let an eligible artist create an account and submit releases through an online dashboard. They are useful when you control the recordings and want to release under your own artist name. Check annual or per-release fees, royalty deductions, catalogue removal conditions, optional add-ons, delivery timing, tax handling and customer support. A self-service account does not guarantee that every store will accept every track.
Specialist distribution for techno labels
Electronic-music distribution partners can offer more tailored support for labels managing several artists and a recurring catalogue. Some provide DJ-store delivery, promo and pitching tools, accounting, label management or physical record distribution. They may require an application, a release plan, previous catalogues or a commercial conversation before accepting a new label. These are professional service providers, not demo inboxes: if you need an imprint for your own music, use the Techno Label Finder and check its verified demo policies instead.
Vinyl and other physical distribution
Physical distribution concerns getting manufactured records into shops, distributors’ catalogues and retailers. It is distinct from uploading digital files. Check minimum quantities, manufacturing responsibility, warehousing, return rights, shipping, territories and payment schedules before agreeing a vinyl deal. A company advertising digital and physical services may have different acceptance requirements for each.
Can any distributor put my record on Beatport?
No provider listing should be treated as a guarantee of retailer approval. Beatport’s official music distribution provider directory distinguishes label providers from artist providers. Beatport also reviews record labels for musical relevance and release plans, while individual distributors can have their own content and onboarding rules.
That is why we mark a company’s Beatport provider-list status separately from its access model. “Listed label provider” means a public provider listing, not an open Beatport account, automatic release placement or a promise that every genre and label will qualify. Where the listing could not be confirmed, the profile says “Not verified” rather than “Not supported”.
What to check before choosing a distribution partner
- Rights: who controls the master recording, for how long, and what happens if you leave?
- Costs: recurring fees, commission, add-on fees, minimum payments, currency conversion and reporting frequency.
- Stores: the retailers you actually need, including specialist DJ stores, and whether they have separate approval procedures.
- Catalogues: whether you can preserve ISRC and UPC identifiers and existing artist pages when transferring releases.
- Marketing support: the exact services included versus optional pitching or promotion. Nobody can guarantee editorial placement.
- Operations: delivery lead time, customer support, takedown handling, splits, accounting and dispute procedures.
For release preparation and planning, see our demo submission guide and social media marketing guide for electronic music artists. If you are building a live performance career rather than releasing recordings, the Techno Booking Agency Finder serves a different purpose.
Editorial method and updates
The initial company profiles were researched on 2 November 2026 using providers’ official information and, where applicable, Beatport’s provider index, plus the broader Spotify for Artists provider directory. Each entry includes a source-check date and an official website. Inclusion is free and independent, not sponsored placement. Listings may be updated, added or removed after editorial review.
Important: This directory offers general information, not legal or financial advice. Always examine the latest distribution agreement and official retailer eligibility rules before uploading unreleased masters, paying a fee or transferring rights.
