Introducing Allice D: Brazil’s Eclectic Voice in Electronic Music
Kicking off this episode of the Techno Radar series, we’re thrilled to showcase the dynamic sound of Allice D, a true underground talent from Brazil.
Her journey through the realms of music is a testament to her deep-seated passion and evolving tastes. Her love affair with electronic music began in her childhood, with the pulsating rhythm of Technotronic’s “Pump Up the Jam” leaving a lasting imprint on her mind.
This early exposure to electronic sounds, alongside the influence of bands like Depeche Mode and Erasure, laid the foundation for her eclectic musical palette.

Allice D: Emergence in the Electronic Music Scene
The transformative year of 2004 marked Allice D’s regular foray into electronic parties, often travelling to different cities to immerse herself in the vibrant psytrance festival scene. However, it was only a hiatus and a move to a new city that her path would lead her to the DJ booth.
The pivotal moment came at Warung Beach Club, where Hernan Cattaneo’s entrancing long sets captivated her and profoundly influenced her future in DJing. Her boyfriend’s intuition about her musical inclinations proved accurate, as Cattaneo’s progressive rhythms resonated deeply with her.

From the DJ Booth: Allice D’s Evolution and Memorable Performances
Allice D began training to become a DJ, and her musical exploration expanded under the guidance of her mentor, who encouraged her to diversify her listening habits beyond Cattaneo’s mixes. Her initial focus on progressive, deep, and afro house and melodic techno gradually shifted to include downtempo, deep techno, and minimal house, showcasing her ability to adapt and refine her sound.
Reflecting on her past gigs, Allice D recalls a particularly memorable farewell party for a friend from Bege, a collective of talented DJs with diverse musical tastes. Despite the constraints of the pandemic, the event’s intimate setting fostered a warm and vibrant atmosphere, marking the collective’s first public event and leaving a significant mark on her.

Allice D: The Art of Collaborations
Collaboration has also been a critical aspect of Allice D. A back-to-back set with a friend specialising in minimal house taught her the value of trust over technical prowess. The synergy between their preparations—her delve into minimal house and his venture into techno—resulted in a delightful experience that underscored the importance of connection and adaptability.
Looking ahead, Allice D is not one to rest on her laurels. She continues contributing to the global electronic music scene by recording mixes for international podcasts, with a downtempo mix for a Spanish podcast on the horizon. Moreover, her venture into music production lessons since April hints at an exciting new chapter as she gears up to release her first original track.
Allice D’s narrative is one of continuous growth, driven by a relentless pursuit of musical expression and a dedication to her craft that promises to bring new rhythms and beats to the electronic music landscape.
