Rangel Coelho

Rangel, it’s a pleasure to welcome you for this interview! What were your first impressions of the electronic scene at the beginning of your career? How did your story in music start?

Rangel Coelho: My first impression was of a 16 to 17-year-old kid thinking it would be easy to follow this path as a professional, but in the first years I saw difficulties in having the necessary information, knowledge, equipment, network and the difficulties of being a DJ/Producer.

My story began in Maranhão at the age of 16 because I liked music, had contact with DJ software, audio editing and was especially interested in creating music. In 2015 I moved to São Paulo, where I came to study DJ courses, and started to study Music Production the following year. In short, this is how I started my professional journey.

How was your first creative process in production?

Rangel Coelho: In the beginning, it was hard because the lack of experience and immaturity made me make a lot of mistakes, I made a lot of tracks out of market standards, consequently they are tracks that will never be approved by anyone.

But since I started in production I always try to be creative so I keep myself updated, creative, and always evolving.

How do you connect with the national techno scene nowadays?

Rangel Coelho: I don’t see myself connected to the national scene, because I try to release tracks for big labels and artists I admire from outside of Brazil, my audience that consumes my tracks is from Germany and the United States.

Unfortunately, I don’t connect to Brazil as an artist.

What was the highlight of your career?

Rangel Coelho: Releasing a Good EP on Gain Records with Matteo Magni’s remix, track played by Markus Schulz, support from The YellowHeads playing my track Suspended Space and being an artist label Renesanz founded by the duo I am a fan of, Balthazar & JackRock.

What inspires you the most in the Techno scene?

Rangel Coelho: The music, without a doubt, for those who don’t know it they say it’s the same thing, but for those who do know it, they see the richness of creativity in its different aspects.

Who are the artists you can’t get out of your headset?

Rangel Coelho: Umek, Space 92, Balthazar & JackRock, Layton Giordani, Jay Lumen, Pleasurekraft…

How did your relationship with Reload Records start? How was the process of creating God Of The Universe?

Rangel Coelho: Reload has been my musical path since the beginning. But since 2021 we have a stronger partnership since my tracks are more professional. Mary receives my tracks and passes them on to The YellowHeads.

Reload Records/Black are Cosmic Techno labels so they love tracks with melodic and spatial synths, music that mentions the universe. God Of The Universe is a track that carries this identity, inspired by The Pleasurekraft’s music and carries Cosmic DNA.

Fenix Return, in spite of being mythological, the synths speak with Cosmic identity and matches perfectly with the first track bringing some weight to the EP.

Any words for the fans?
