Refshaleøen, the former dockyard peninsula, is important to understanding Copenhagen’s larger electronic parties. Hangaren makes use of the area’s industrial setting without pretending that every night is the same. That variability is a strength if you follow particular artists or collectives; it is less useful if you arrive expecting identical music every weekend. 6. Jolene: intimate electronic nights in Kødbyen

Jolene is a bar and club rather than an exclusively techno venue. The calendar commonly crosses house, disco and other club music, but techno nights do appear. Its smaller scale makes it appealing when you want to stay close to Kødbyen’s bars and restaurants rather than travel to the warehouse venues.
There is an important difference between “a venue that sometimes hosts techno” and “a techno club.” Jolene belongs in this guide because of its electronic programming and its place in the city’s nightlife, but it should not be sold as a guaranteed hard-techno destination. 7. Baggen: the venue formerly known as Bakken
Where: Flæsketorvet 19, Kødbyen. Best for: a casual late-night room with adventurous but mixed electronic music.

H15 in Kødbyen can host electronic events, but is not a dedicated techno club. Likewise, VEGA, RUST and Pumpehuset are established music venues with wider programmes. Et Andet Sted is a historical name, not a current alternative to Den Anden Side. The earlier project opened in 2017 and belonged to the sequence of venues that led to Ved Siden Af and then Den Anden Side.
